Puddin Core is an authorship verification platform built for universities. Instead of analysing a finished document for signs of misconduct, Puddin captures the entire writing process as it happens — recording keystrokes, revisions, paste events, session timing, and writing speed to create a reviewable evidence record for every submission. When a question arises about how a document was written, you have a detailed, time-stamped history to examine rather than a probabilistic guess.

Who Puddin Core is for

Puddin Core is designed for three roles within your institution:
  • Administrators configure the institution account, manage user roles and permissions, connect Puddin to your learning management system (LMS), and set data retention and privacy policies.
  • Teachers create writing assignments, enrol students, review submitted documents, and replay the writing process to assess authorship evidence.
  • Students complete writing tasks in Puddin’s browser-based environment or the Microsoft Word add-in, where their writing activity is recorded automatically.

The problem Puddin solves

Academic integrity policies rely on being able to answer one fundamental question: did this student write this document? Traditional submission systems capture only the finished file, leaving no record of how it was created. Puddin fills that gap by recording the document creation history in real time, giving teachers and institutions verifiable process-based evidence rather than inference.
Puddin captures writing process evidence. It does not analyse finished text or assign an AI-likelihood score. Authorship decisions always rest with a human reviewer.

Key capabilities

  • Writing process capture — Records every keystroke, revision, paste event, and session boundary as a student writes.
  • Authorship record — Assembles captured activity into a structured, replayable evidence record for each submission.
  • Process replay — Lets teachers watch a document build itself from the first character to the final full stop, with timeline scrubbing and event filtering.
  • Paste and revision analysis — Highlights paste events, large deletions, and structural revisions so reviewers can focus on moments of interest.
  • Writing speed and pause data — Surfaces patterns in writing pace and extended pauses that provide additional context.
  • LMS integration — Connects to Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace, and Manaba via LTI 1.3 for single sign-on, automatic enrolment, and assignment sync.
  • Verification records — Generates exportable authorship verification records for use in academic integrity proceedings.
